A Day in the Life of a Holistic Nutritionist in Regina Saskatchewan

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a holistic nutritionist? Sure, who hasn’t? :-) While the job may conjure images of green smoothies, essential oils, and yoga poses, the day-to-day reality involves far more depth, science, and soul. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, I help clients reconnect with their bodies through whole foods, sustainable habits, and targeted nutritional strategies. Let’s take a peek behind the curtain at what a typical day looks like in my world.

Morning: Grounded Beginnings

Mindful Mornings My day starts with intention. I wake up early to enjoy a quiet moment alone, usually with a warm mug of lemon water or green tea, outside on my back patio (weather permitting). Before checking emails or social media, I take 10–15 minutes to practice gratitude, set intentions, meditate, or simply breathe. Mornings set the tone, and grounding myself first helps me show up fully for my clients.

Nourishing Breakfast Food is medicine, and I practice what I preach. I have to be honest; I’m not a fan or typical breakfast food. I don’t enjoy cold or sweet breakfasts. A typical breakfast might be a veggie-packed frittata with greens and berries, or even a bowl of soup! I also take my morning supplements, including omega-3, vitamin C, and a high-quality probiotic.

Client Prep & Protocol Reviews Before any appointments, I review client intake forms, symptom assessments, and past notes. I may spend this time researching a specific condition, refining supplement suggestions, or creating a custom meal plan using whole-food principles.

Midday: Client Sessions & Content Creation

Client Consultations Most mornings include client sessions, either virtually or in person. These are deeply collaborative conversations where we explore health history, diet, lifestyle, stress, sleep, and more. Together, we set goals and build realistic, nourishing strategies.

Protocol Building After each session, I create a personalized reports and nutrition and lifestyle protocols. This includes dietary guidelines, food and supplement recommendations, and lifestyle habits tailored to the client’s individual needs and goals.

Lunch Break Lunch is another chance to fuel up with intention. I might have a Buddha bowl with quinoa, roasted vegetables, greens, chickpeas, and tahini dressing or a warming soup with avocado and flaxseed crackers. I also try to get outside for some sunlight and a walk or stretch.

Afternoon: Education & Business Tasks

Content & Program Development As a holistic nutritionist, I wear many hats: educator, student, coach, writer, and business owner. I often use this time to write blog posts, develop client handouts, or create educational content for my website and online programs.

Admin & Client Follow-Up Running a business means keeping on top of communications, invoicing, appointment scheduling, and checking in with clients mid-protocol. I use this window to reply to emails, tweak meal plans, or send supportive resources.

Evening: Unplugging & Replenishing

Light Movement Even if it’s just a walk with my dog or a short stretch session, I move my body every day to stay grounded and reduce stress.

Dinner & Downtime Dinner is balanced and calming. Example meal is grilled salmon with steamed greens and sweet potato, or a veggie stir-fry with brown rice and tamari. I aim to finish eating a few hours before bed to support digestion and sleep.

Wind Down / Bedtime Rituals I avoid screens and instead reach for a book, take an Epsom salt bath, or sip calming tea like chamomile or ginger. Quality sleep is a cornerstone of health, for me and my clients, so I prioritize rest.

Final Thoughts Being a holistic nutritionist isn’t just a job for me; it’s a lifestyle rooted in balance, connection, and continuous learning. While each day brings different challenges and opportunities, the core of my work remains the same: to help people nourish their bodies and feed their souls.

Whether you're considering a career in holistic nutrition or simply curious about what we do, I hope this behind-the-scenes look has given you insight into this deeply rewarding path.
